Kimberli Judge

Artist Location: Basildon

Artist Bio

Kimberli initially started as a curator for Art Map London, exhibiting for the Art Trail Wanstead before undertaking her Masters at Central Saint Martins, then going on to work with Dr Mark Ingham at the London College of Communications.  A move to Essex then followed where Kimberli focused on work as a visual artist, developing her artistic practice further by collaborating with other creatives. She has developed her pop-art aesthetic which has its foundations in Dada and her first experiences with art. Her work continues to have riveting layers and reflects her personal experiences, where she continues to explore her research around identity, intimacy and sensuality through songwriting, performance, poetry and multimedia concepts.

  • Kimberli has used her interest in psychogeography and heritage to guide her research throughout this commission. She had chosen to seek out the stories of lost art, buildings, and people. Through archival investigation and speaking with the Basildon community, Kimberli created a Basildon Culture Mile, that utilizes wayfinding through existing landmarks, to draw attention to place identity and trigger further conversation about the sense of belonging. She used recorded interviews from a performance piece that took place on a well known bus route between Pitsea and Basildon, to use in a finished film that tells the story of her findings.

  • A commission for the Seven Kings Uplighting in 2020, and a 2019 commission by the Redbridge Museum and Heritage Centre to curate and design ideas for their group project. Recent London shows include Wanstead Festival, The Rocksteady, Floripa and The Lighthouse.
