Artist Bio

I'm Ben Stewart a multi disciplinary artist born in Basildon in 1983, I've a wide range of artistic skills ranging from graffiti and street art to videography and film making and am self taught in all. For the last couple of years i've been sharing an amalgamation of my work on my Youtube channel FusionWalls

Recent Achievements

Ben looked into the town of Laindon and the people who live there, visiting the Basildon Heritage Centre for its archive information and using photographs, maps, vintage posters and created a web based survey for his research. Ben wanted to talk to the Laindon community, of all ages, to ask what their journeys in and out of Laindon meant to them. With the information gathered from survey results and his conversations with residents he created a set of infographics depicting How & why people travel in and out of Laindon and what those journeys meant to them. Ben also created a final short film (Coming Home) that focused on a journey home to Laindon along one of the most common routes the A127. Ben discovered that the people of Laindon nearly all had a story to tell about their journeys in and out of Laindon, and their sense of home.
2021 - Present - Ben organises an International Graffiti Project "The Secret Writer" where some of the worlds biggest graffiti artists and YouTubers (Sofles, Asoter, Resk12, Smoe and Doke) have taken part in a secret santa style name exchange (the artists names go into a hat and everyone draws another's name to paint and record a video) The videos air back to back in a marathon event so far there have been 77 artists from 31 countries in 6 continents, 212 videos and closing in on 1million views!
2022 - Artist at the inaugural Southend City Jam - Ben took part in the 3 day event painting live and creating a round up video.
2022 - Artist Residency with Metal Culture - Ben looked into the area's Artists called their homes investigating topics such as whether having access to Artistic hubs & a sense of community amongst artists helped their development.
2021 - Assistant to artist marina-capdevila during "Our Towns" Basildon mural event (Ben also painted a portrait of Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan, live at the opening event).
